The Creature Features of the Fifties were extremely popular and spawned a whole genre of pop art in their movie posters.  In this commissioned drawing, John has combined a number of the best elements of these posters to create a unique new piece of art.

Monster books were extremely popular prior to the Silver Age coming of the Superheroes.  At left is a typical pre Silver Age Monster, originally drawn by Jack Kirby and interpreted here by John.
